Erik Menendez has made the sensational revelation that while serving a prison sentence for the murder of his parents, he and his brother Lyle were ruthlessly bullied and subjected to violent attacks.
54-year-old Erik, who along with his 57-year-old brother Lyle are serving life sentences for the 1989 murders, revealed the shocking truth on Harvey Levin’s “2 Angry Men” podcast, saying that he was subjected to the barbarity and cruelty of the highest order in prison.
Erik Menendez’s painful revelation: violence, isolation and cruelty in prison
Erik Menendez, while recalling the difficult days spent in prison, said, “For me, prison was nothing less than a nightmare.” He revealed that there he was ruthlessly threatened, mentally tortured, and pushed into a dangerous environment.
Erik told me that he was “selected” and “violently tortured” because he was not part of any gang. ** When he was attacked, he did not even resist.
He also said that being separated from his brother Lyle was the most difficult for him. Both the brothers were kept in separate prisons for 21 years before the sentence, due to which they had to suffer a lot mentally.
The most shocking revelation came when Eric revealed that Lyle was attacked and his jaw was broken. He said in a pained voice, “I wish we were put in the same prison so we could protect each other.”

Menendez Brothers in the spotlight again – new hearing and shocking revelations
The Menendez brothers’ case is once again in the spotlight, as they have been the center of Netflix’s top-rated” limited series, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. With this new focus, the brothers will face re-sentencing hearings in March that could decide their fates.
In this infamous murder case, Erik (then 18) and Lyle (then 21) came to the attention of the whole world when their parents Jose and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez were brutally murdered in their multi-million dollar mansion in Beverly Hills. Jose was shot six times in the back of the head, while Kitty was shot 10 times.
In 1990, the brothers’ arrests sparked a media storm when Eric confessed to his therapist that he was involved in the murders.
Their lawyers argued in court that the murders were not a conspiracy but an act of self-defense. They argued that the brothers had suffered years of horrific sexual abuse from their father Jose and were forced to take the extreme step to escape it.
