New York City is all set for a special soap opera screening! After the special screening of Beyond the Gates, the show’s lead actresses, Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree) and Daphne Duplaix (Nicole Dupree Richardson), will lead a special panel discussion. Black History Month is being made even more special with a special screening of Beyond the Gates, the first one-hour Black daytime soap opera and the first new daytime drama in 26 years, according to the Paley Center for Media, which will introduce viewers to a new world.
The series revolves around “The Duprees,” the most influential family in a ritzy, gated African-American community in Maryland. This multi-generational family is the true epitome of Black royalty—the epitome of power, prestige, and tradition.
But, like every family, there are dark secrets and shocking scandals hidden within that will be revealed over time. Packed with classic soap opera drama and suspense, Beyond the Gates is set to take viewers into a new, unique world!

The brain behind this new series is soap opera veteran writer Michel Val Jean, who has written hit shows like The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, and Generations. He serves as executive producer, showrunner, and head writer on Beyond the Gates, which promises to make the show a unique and impactful experience!
