But he wasn’t just there to reminisce—he was there to say, as a British citizen, that America is now on the path to a kingdom again. He joked, “Now I can proudly say that America feels like a kingdom again!”

He continued Jon Stewart’s Monday night episode by explaining how Trump is shamelessly carrying out corrupt actions—and Republican leaders are either ignoring it or trying to justify it by lying.
John Oliver, in his funny but sharp style, also highlighted that the Democrats are struggling to deal with this situation. During the show, he said sarcastically, “Now America has completely become a monarchy, and the funniest thing is that no one is even trying to stop it!”

John Oliver once again ripped apart Donald Trump’s agenda in his scathing humor on ‘The Daily Show’! On Monday night, when Jon Stewart analyzed Trump’s recent statements, he observed that Trump is not just talking about overturning laws—he is trying to take America back to the darkest period of history.
From civil rights laws to child labor protections, Trump is attacking policies that have kept America moving forward. But John Oliver, in his own funny way, said that Stewart had to go way back in the history books to understand Trump’s thinking!
During the show, Oliver quipped, “If Trump gets a chance, he will send America back to the era of horses and candles!”

“America is no longer a constitutional republic, but a monarchy,” Stewart sighed. “But most importantly—” He took a deep breath before finishing, as if trying to put the gravity of the change into words.
Meanwhile, John Oliver appeared on stage, clapping slowly and saying sarcastically, “Well, well, the prodigal son is back!” His voice had the same old wit and sarcasm that the audience was already familiar with. He made some more funny comments to lighten the mood, which brought laughter from the audience.
Stewart smiled and quipped, “Are my eyes deceiving me? Is this really the same young John Oliver who has come to impart his wisdom and advice to America?” He looked at Oliver and gave a deliberate, serious smile, which made the atmosphere even more interesting. Oliver responded with sarcasm, which further increased the enthusiasm of the audience.

“Oh, no, John, I’m not here to be sad, but to celebrate!” John Oliver said, smiling. “America experimented a little with democracy, had a little fun, and thought it would go a different way. You even had a revolution to get away from us! Threw all the tea in the harbor—still pay the bill for that, by the way,” he quipped with mock seriousness, which made the studio roar with laughter.
“You promised you wouldn’t be like your tough, mean old father who made your childhood so difficult,” Oliver said sarcastically. “We let you have your rebellious phase, thinking you’d come back on your own when your spirits cooled. And lo and behold, that’s what happened!” Then, he pretended to sing the famous song “You Will Be Back” from Hamilton, but Stewart immediately stopped him, which made the audience laugh even louder.
“In fact, I’m the first to welcome America into its new monarchical era. Congratulations!” Oliver quipped. “Now you can join the list of those great empires—British, Roman, Klingon, Wakanda, and… whatever ruler that Babar the elephant was!” Stewart immediately objected that Americans are Republicans, but Oliver quipped, “Because when Democrats are in power, procedural shenanigans bring everything to a standstill!”
John Oliver’s Sarcasm: “America, does that make sense to you?”
“Do you really like this system?” John Oliver quipped. “Sometimes it takes 51 votes to pass a bill, sometimes the vice president comes in to break a tie, and then suddenly some bills need 60 votes for no reason? Oh, little Timmy, no health care for you—now get out of here!” he said, feigning sympathy, which prompted laughter in the studio.
“Well, when you say it like that, it really does sound bad,” Stewart admitted hesitantly. After some playful banter, Stewart protested that America is not an empire.
“Oh, really? Have you seen America in the last 50 years?” Oliver retorted, raising an eyebrow. “Because if you really want to be an empire, you should at least stop imitating it. Invasion, economic exploitation, and now the suggestion to turn Gaza into a beachside casino? I swear King George would be thinking, ‘Man, it seems like it’s a little more complicated than that… and I’m literally dying of medieval brain disease!'”
Stewart sighed and shook his head, “Oh no… we really did end up like our fathers. God damn it!”
